Trail to Table: A Logo with Heart
Designing logos is always a rewarding experience, but some projects hold an extra layer of meaning. One such project was the logo for Trail to Table, a business founded by Tanya Robinette, a La Honda, CA local who brings her passion for foraging, herbal medicine, and community-centered cooking to life.
Tanya has been catering since 2006 and finds joy in creating food and experiences that connect people with nature. She carefully forages ingredients with deep respect for Mother Earth, blending her knowledge of the wilderness with her love for cooking. When she approached me to design her logo, I knew this project would be something special.
A Family Collaboration
What made this project truly unique was that Tanya’s seventh-grade daughter created the initial sketch for the logo. I absolutely loved the idea of incorporating this personal touch and used her sketch as the foundation of the final design. From there, I refined the concept and added hand-drawn elements of wild-foraged mushrooms using my iPad, ensuring that the logo reflected the beauty and authenticity of Tanya’s work.
This kind of collaboration is one of my favorite aspects of design. Being able to take an idea, especially one that carries such sentimental value, and transform it into a polished, professional logo is incredibly rewarding. Tanya’s business is rooted in family, community, and a deep connection to nature, and I wanted the logo to reflect those values.

The final design is more than just a visual identity for Trail to Table—it’s a symbol of Tanya’s journey, her daughter’s creativity, and the rich landscapes of the Santa Cruz Mountains where she forages. It represents respect for the land, a love for cooking, and a commitment to sustainability.
